Analysis of the Short Story

2.     Plot

a.     Exposition

Each peoples have a hoping, dreams, aspiration, and ways to enjoy their life or also to undergo it.  She is a child who has high ambition, courageous, and pertinacious. Today on Monday 17th of October was born a child man. He was born by a simalungunese woman in North Sumatera. His mother has family name is “Siahaan” and his Father has family name is “Purba” . His mother gave a name to him is Piter Purba. They are poor family whom they lived in outskirt.

b.     Rising action

It begun when he was child until grew to be adult, he still being a man who has high ambition such hustle. He had be happy when he played with his friends added the rain came, he and his friend regarded that life is enjoyed. He very liked to join with organization, such as competed an argument. He either liked culture, music, and also association. He very loved his culture namely simalungunese, moreover he always used simalungun language in their family. He has big dream, so he desired to continue to high level education.

c.     Climax

When night fell, after they had dinner, he spoke to his father, his eyes on his strong spirit reached for his dream. But his father said "just working in the fields is you, no need for schools, you can just eat already thankful" said your father explicitly. Then he was pensive and silent. Seeing the day he went to the fields again. And met his mother, and talked about continuing the school, but her mother was again only able to smile at her. Then after that, she was determined to go to town to see life in the small town. he still insisted on continuing his school and enrolled as a freshman with a Bachelor of Law major. He told his mother that he only took one year to study there, then returned to his village again so that his mother would believe him even though to hold a law degree must study at least 4 years or 3.5 years. This was done, so that his mother could be allowed to continue the school, because if it was said to be a 4-years lecturer, her mother would not give her blessing, because of their lack of finances Three years passed, he was still busy carrying out his studies. Until the mother was confused and thinking, why my child, has not finished, he said just two years to finish it..

d.     Falling action

Suddenly a letter was present in the house of his house, which contained "Nang, I was ready for a bachelor degree, sorry your son who lied to you, I said a year I went to school even though four years, my host came to my graduation tomorrow, to the address I made it here. From your son Piter Purba ". After the day, the graduation ceremony took place, the mother came from the village with her father, bringing her children's favorite food. One time there was a massive demonstration by the Workers of several factories in the city, because the wages were not worth the overtime or the work they did. 4.     Conflict

One time there was a massive demonstration by the Workers of several factories in the city, because the wages were not worth the overtime or the work they did. However, the case was found with his friends, whom they were arrested by the police and put into foam with the accusation of "demonstration provocateurs".

·      Narrator as a child of the main character which she told her father’s experience.

His name is Piter Purba. They live on the outskirts of the city, he is a man born to a poor family. His mother and father were only farmers in the village, they also lived in field huts.
